Holidays
A good holiday in Ibiza is having a good accommodation because this is where you be spending over 75% of your holiday, which is quite a large percentage of time. You will sleep, probably eat breakfast and even a few lunches and dinners where ever you stay, plus laze around in the sun, read and just relax in your accommodation. So keeping this in mind can make you decide to spend that little bit extra on your accommodation. A hotel room does have a lot of facilities, but normally the living space is fairly small and you will probably spend more time walking and using the hotel facilities, like the pool or restaurants, you will however still spend over 75% of your holiday in the hotel grounds.
So a good hotel like a 5 star you will be rather satisfied with its facilities and a 5 star should cover the most the facilities you want during your holiday. Although a 5 star hotel will cost you a lot more and if you are on a smaller budget then you may be considering a four star or even a three star hotel. The four star hotels on Ibiza are also quite good and do have a lot of facilities to keep the average person happy. Moving down to a three stars and now you are starting to limit the facilities you have and your room is losing its quality comparing to a five star hotel.
Hotel food is served for you on set times.
Villa you need to cook for yourself and you can cook whatever you fancy, anytime.
Hotel you only have privacy in your room
Villa you have full privacy even in the swimming pool and gardens.
Hotel will have entertainment, TV amongst other things to entertain its guests.
Villa you do not have entertainment but you do have your own TV, at your control so you can watch whatever you want.
Hotel you can’t throw a private party, unless you hire the whole hotel!
Villa you can throw your own party and make a kind of party you want.
So now let’s compare this to a villa. A villa has a lot more living space and it’s all private. A villa you control everything, what you want to watch on TV, what you want to cook and eat. As a hotel you are served breakfast from a start time to a finishing time, a villa you can have breakfast anytime you want of course not served to you, but still it’s up to you when you want it. A villa you can have more freedom and treat it like it’s your home. A hotel you are amongst other guests and swimming in the pool with over ten other people just isn’t the same as swimming in your own private pool.
Ibiza hotels are normally located in resorts and this goes for something like 85% of the hotels in Ibiza. The villas on Ibiza are located all over the Island and you will find most the private villas are located just outside the resorts or towns. With a villa you will need a car, depending where it’s located. With a hotel and if it’s based in a resort you could get away with not renting a car.
Villa you need a car.
Hotel you don’t really need a car, hotels do have a lot of excursions and tours that can be organized for you.
A villa most of the time has a manager or the owner takes this role to help and provide a better service for you regarding the villa rental. A villa normally has maids and pool cleaners once a week. A hotel of course has management and there are always people to talk to about your room and facilities if anything does go wrong. All hotels have maids and services towards the hotel facilities. A hotel maybe more dedicated to supporting young children than a villa where you will have to monitor your children and if you want someone to watch them you would need a private nanny or babysitter.
Hotel has good resources for children.
Villa you need to resource for yourself to entertain or take of the children.
A hotel and villa are obviously quite different and if privacy is the key to your holiday then villa is the ultimate choice. A hotel does offer a person who is travelling alone a better opportunity to meet other travellers. If you are a large group or family a villa does work very well.
Prices
1 person in a 4 star hotel in the month of July would be an average of 50 euros per night
2 persons would come to 100 euros.
An average 4 bedroom villa with pool would be 2000 euros for a week. This divided into per night basis would be around 285 euros per night. Seems expensive per night but remember this is for four people and divided between four people this comes to around 75 euros per night each. So that extra 25 euros gives you a luxury private villa. We took an average villa of course there are more expensive ones offering more facilities and more luxurious. But you can also find cheaper villas breaking into the 1400 euros per week margin. This means that you would be paying less for four people than a hotel. Hotels know this and try to keep their prices competitive and try to offer more to make the deal look more attractive. So some hotels may offer special offers on room types and give a free night if you book more than 5 nights.
Now with the villa you would have to rent a car and cater for your own food. Hotel wins here because they would be giving at least a breakfast in there price and for car hire, it’s not really necessary because hotels are normally based in resorts or towns, unless you are planning to do a lot of exploring. With a villa you do get that privacy and with privacy you have to do a lot for yourself.
Hotel price food at least breakfast included.
Villa you need to cater for yourself or eat out.
