Clubbing

Ibiza is an Island in the Mediterranean, part of the Balearic Islands. The Island attracts thousands of tourists each year between May and October for its wonderful club life. Known as the party Island, Ibiza has become one of the top destinations in Europe for the 18 to 30 party goers. Beaches, chill out bars and super clubs make this a perfect Island for a clubber. The Island of Ibiza has become a real clubbing paradise, just a few hours away from most of Europe.

So what has made Ibiza famous for its clubs?

Back in 1954 a man called Juan Mari Juan opened a bar with his skills of a carpenter and farmer he built on his own land a bar called Las Dalias which had a large concert hall, and later on a restaurant was built which was all part of Las Dalias. Las Dalias became the social meeting point for the locals around San Carlos. Weddings, parties, baptisms and absolutely anything that could bring people to the bar could be held at Las Dalias. The bar also had some very famous bands performing some real rock & roll heroes have all passed through Las Dalias like Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Sham 69, and Ronnie Wood from Rolling Stones, Brian May from Queen and many more. Las Dailias was attracting music lovers then late 70’s a club opened in San Rafeal and at that time is was called 'Club San Rafeal' which eventually became the well-known and world famous club called ‘KU' The club changed hands in the ealry 90's and became what it is today 'Privilege'. As tourism increased on Ibiza and Ibiza became more popular all across Europe and it also became known as the place to get away on a low budget and be able to party. The club scene began to grow and grow with Amnesia opening in 1970 and then Pacha in 1973, Es Paradis 1975, Space 1987, Eden 1999. The clubbing scene had been on a boom, since the 70’s right up to the present date and this gives Ibiza the title as the party capital of Europe.

The Ibiza Attraction

Because Ibiza is known as the party capital this drives every teenager across Europe wanting to get away from their parents and visit the White Isle to taste some wild freedom to party like a rock star. Sex, Drugs and Rock n’ Roll is one way of saying it, and that has been rather true through the 70’s and 80’s and still today Ibiza gets the bad image as the place for sex, drugs and Rock n Roll and of course if there is clubbing and parties there is going to be exactly that.

It’s not to be forgotten that Ibiza has grown from the party Island to a place that has something for everyone and the club scene has excelled in every area like the famous Café Del Mar which is all based on watching the sunset while listening to some chilled out music. Now there are many more chill out bars all with the same theme and all are pre-bars to the main super clubs of Ibiza.

Pre-bar is the term used on Ibiza has the place to drink and begin your Ibiza Clubbing experience out before visiting one of the super clubs. You see the super clubs don’t really get going until something like 2am, visiting before this time the places are virtually empty. So pre-bars are the in thing, visiting a pre-bar first starts your night and you can collect your Ibiza club tickets if you brought online.

The Super Clubs of Ibiza

Seven major clubs are on the Island of Ibiza, which have been the top seven super clubs on Ibiza for over a decade. They are:

  1. Amnesia - which is near the town of San Rafeal between San Antonio and Ibiza town?
  2. DC10 – Near the airport on the road to Las Salinas beach.
  3. Eden – In the centre of San Antonio
  4. Es Paradis – Another in the centre of San Antonio, next door to Eden.
  5. Pacha – Located near the Marina of Ibiza
  6. Privilege –What used to be called KU, located in San Rafeal.
  7. Space – Located in Playa Den Bossa near Bora Bora beach club.

The clubs in Ibiza are special and it’s a little bit of everything that has made them super clubs from their history, the Island’s Magic, tourism, the DJ’s and the music. The clubs have changed over the 30 years and technology in sound and lighting are the major changes. The clubs do keep up-to-date and this keeps them in the trend as the best clubs in the world.
The clubs get themed nights so that every night is not the same and this adds to the attraction. The clubs are themed by outside promoters who bring their ideas, music, DJ’s into the clubbing arena to make it even more special. So an example would be that Cream which is a name of a promoter would bring along their DJ’s such as Paul Van Dyk or Eddie Halliwel, or whatever DJ they are pushing and promoting. So promoter contracts DJ’s under their brand name, then promoter takes a venue for the summer, like every Thursday throughout the summer in Amnesia you will get Cream. All the clubs have calenders all through the summer season from May to Ocotber, a club has a calender of events.See Club Calenders

The clubs are called super clubs for a reason, they are huge with Privilege having a capacity of 10,000 and most of the other clubs not far of these figures and you will find more than one dance floor, and bar areas in almost every corner. Once you enter an Ibiza club it really feels like something special, good sound systems, lots of exotic lighting and of course the best of the best in music. There is also in every club a VIP areas for those who want that exclusivity, which normal involves your own table on a balcony in the club and some clubs have private lounges, gardens, chill out terraces. Ibiza’s success of clubbing year by year is because it attracts the world’s finest DJ’s, just about every DJ in the world wants to play in an Ibiza club. Another factor is that know where in the world can you choose from seven of the best clubs with fantastic line-ups of DJ’s and all these clubs are about 30mins drive from each other. Renting a car is probably the best option in getting to these clubs, you can try this company to rent a car or scooter alquiler coches ibiza.
The Island has many more clubs but the ones above have been in the limelight and stand out amongst the crowd.
